Parental Consent Policy

JuniorTech serves students aged 10–16. This page explains what parental consent means, why we need it, and what rights parents have.

01

Why We Require Parental Consent

JuniorTech Virtual Tech School serves students aged 10 to 16 years old. Because our students are minors, the law — and our own commitment to child safety — requires us to obtain explicit, verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before:

  • ▸Collecting any personal data relating to the student
  • ▸Granting access to course content, platforms, or sessions
  • ▸Communicating directly with the student via email, video call, or messaging
  • ▸Recording or publishing any student work or session content

This policy is designed to keep every student safe, give parents full visibility, and comply with child data protection laws including COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) and GDPR-K.

02

Who Must Give Consent

Consent must be provided by one of the following:

  • ▸A biological or adoptive parent of the student
  • ▸A legal guardian with documented responsibility for the child
  • ▸A primary caregiver legally authorised to act on behalf of the minor

Students aged 16 may complete their own enrollment but must provide a parent/guardian contact for our records. Full parental involvement is still strongly encouraged for all students under 18.

03

What You Are Consenting To

When a parent or guardian completes our enrollment form and checks the consent box, they are confirming that they:

  • ▸Have read and agree to JuniorTech's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • ▸Consent to the collection and processing of their child's personal data as described in the Privacy Policy
  • ▸Authorise JuniorTech instructors to teach and interact with their child during courses and/or coaching sessions
  • ▸Consent to sessions being recorded for the student's review (recordings are shared only with the enrolled family)
  • ▸Understand that their child's project work may be used as an anonymised example with prior notice
  • ▸Accept responsibility for ensuring their child has a suitable, supervised environment for online learning
04

How Consent Is Collected

Parental consent is collected through our secure enrollment form. The process:

  • ▸Step 1 — Parent/guardian provides their name and contact details during enrollment
  • ▸Step 2 — Parent/guardian checks the explicit consent checkbox on the form
  • ▸Step 3 — A confirmation email is sent to the parent/guardian with a summary of what they consented to
  • ▸Step 4 — JuniorTech staff verify the enrollment and activate course access

We maintain a secure record of all consent acknowledgements, including the date, time, and contact details of the consenting adult.

05

Withdrawing Consent

Parental consent can be withdrawn at any time. To withdraw consent:

  • ▸Email us at juniortech.school@gmail.com with your name, your child's name, and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw consent
  • ▸We will acknowledge your request within 48 hours
  • ▸Upon withdrawal, the student's account will be suspended and their personal data will be deleted within 30 days
  • ▸If the course is in progress, our Refund Policy will apply to determine eligibility for a partial refund

Note: Withdrawing consent means we can no longer provide educational services to the student.

06

Parental Access & Oversight

JuniorTech actively supports parental involvement in their child's learning. As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

  • ▸Request access to your child's progress reports and session notes at any time
  • ▸Sit in on private coaching sessions (please inform us in advance)
  • ▸Review all recorded sessions sent to your email
  • ▸Request the deletion or correction of your child's personal data
  • ▸Contact your child's instructor directly via our support channels
  • ▸Receive regular progress updates by email throughout the course

We encourage parents to stay engaged with their child's learning journey. Our instructors welcome parent involvement and are happy to answer your questions.

07

Safeguarding & Child Protection

JuniorTech takes child safeguarding very seriously. All instructors and staff who interact with students undergo a background check and are trained in online child safeguarding best practices. Our safeguarding measures include:

  • ▸All 1-on-1 coaching sessions are conducted on monitored, recorded video calls
  • ▸Instructors are prohibited from communicating with students outside of official JuniorTech channels
  • ▸Any concerns about inappropriate contact or behaviour must be reported to safeguarding@juniortech.school
  • ▸We will cooperate fully with any law enforcement investigation relating to child safety
  • ▸Students are encouraged to tell a parent if anything in a session makes them uncomfortable

If you have any safeguarding concerns, contact us immediately at safeguarding@juniortech.school.
